It seems as though the last few weeks in Hollywood have been tumultuous. After a period of intense backlash surrounding the ouster of Fox chair Kevin McCarthy, many have been left wondering what’s next.
A few days after his abrupt departure, McCarthy has a few additional things to say about the matter. In an exclusive interview with GodzillaNewz, McCarthy admitted that he made some mistakes and regrets the outcome.
“I wish things had gone better,” McCarthy said. “Unfortunately, the decision was made by the studio to go in another direction and I respect that.”
McCarthy’s tenure at Fox was ended abruptly, and the circumstances surrounding his departure remain up in the air. Many believe the reason was due to growing tensions between McCarthy and others in the studio, including female executives such as Stacey Snider and Nancy Utley.
“I learned a lot during my time at Fox,” McCarthy stated. “I grew professionally and I’m proud of the work I put in there. But I also know that it’s time for me to move on and I’m excited to try something new.”
Although McCarthy’s tenure at Fox was shorter than anticipated, he’s already eyeing some potential opportunities in the near future. He did not elaborate further on his plans but revealed that he’s passionate about finding the next project that really resonates with him.
“Right now, my priority is to find a project with a bigger purpose, something that doesn’t just make money but has the potential to change the industry,” McCarthy said.
It’s clear that McCarthy’s Fox career has come to an end and he now hopes to create something new and exciting. Only time will tell what kind of direction McCarthy decides to take in the upcoming months.
