With President Joe Biden set to deliver his very first joint session address to Congress, the United States is preparing for the State of the Union Address which will take place on March 7th.
Following tradition, President Biden’s address will be broadcast live on national television and media outlets. This yearly event serves as an opportunity for the head of state to report on the current condition of the country to Congress as well as the American people.
In past years, presidents have used their State of the Union addresses to discuss topics ranging from policy initiatives to personal stories relating to their time in office. Likewise, President Biden is expected to mention his signature legislative efforts which have been pursued since his time in office such as vaccinations, COVID-19 relief, climate action, and criminal justice reform.

The festivities will kick off on Monday, March 8th when the President arrives at the Capitol to deliver the address. This is then followed by a response to the address from the leader of the other major political party.
Since 1933, the State of the Union address has served as an important tool for presidents to communicate the nation’s core principles and goals.
